Friends, family members, students, lovers, vagabonds, hippies, rockers, hip hop heads, pickers, burners, activists, freaks, geeks, groupies, and outdoor enthusiasts beware, the Desert Rocks Music Festival is back in full force, with an all star lineup ready to rock the desert as never seen before!
This coming weekend a New Monsoon will roll through Moab blessing all those lucky enough to attend with cooling Keep It Moist showers set to bring forth the true beauty of the full desert bloom we call Desert Rocks. Thats right ladies and gents, rain or shine this fest is gonna rock!
The show spectacular featuring the youngest man ever to be voted into the Rolling Stones top 100 guitar players of all time list, Derek Trucks, is set to explode as music lovers from all over the Western United States have nearly quadrupled last years preshow ticket sales. Hip Hop lyrical mastermind Del the Funky Homosapien will be co-headlining Saturday night with a never before seen collaboration of San Fransisco rock n' roll bands ALO and Tea Leaf Green called TLO. On Friday night the desert will bloom with bluegrass as Hot Buttered Rum picks away the night before The Motet a Colorado favorite takes the stage only to be joined by Dan Lebowitz for a special late night magicgravy set. Lake Tahoo represents as Thursday night headliner Blue Turtle Seduction gears folks up to dance the weekend away. Following the almighty Derek Trucks Band on Sunday, the Eric McFadden Trio will take the stage with special guest Bernie Worrell, a legendary keys player from The Talking Heads. Local favorites such as Royal Bliss, Wisebird, Stonefed, Labcoat, Puddle Mountain Ramblers, The Williams Bros, Ten Mile Tide, and the Elephant Revival Concept are but a few of the others who will be performing throughout the weekend.
Camping and parking is first come first serve so get there early, gates open Thursday May 22 at 10am. The desert is an unforgiving mirage of beauty untold, that being said please gear up properly and be prepared for all that nature has to offer. There will be a variety of food venders ready to pleasure your tastebuds, water and ice will also be readily available. Directions can be found on the website on the "Directions" page.
